Poison, by Bruce Arbuckle

For a long while he says he’s fine. Fooling no one, his friends play along with the deception. He doesn’t want to talk, leave him be. He swallows his feelings, buries them deep inside. They decompose slowly, the poison stains his skin yellow grey. His friends pretend not to notice.
